Boys' Choir from Georgia
Music connects

“Bichebi” – this is the name of the Georgian boys' choir, which simply means “the boys.” The singers are between eight and 18 years old and united by their great passion: choral singing. In Georgia, this musical tradition has held a firm place in cultural life for centuries and is cultivated with great dedication – concerns about finding new talent are therefore foreign to the choir.

Around 60 boys belong to the ensemble. Their repertoire includes traditional folk songs as well as spiritual hymns of the Georgian church. During their performances, they wear the typical national costume, which makes their musical presentation a visually impressive experience. The passing down of this rich singing tradition from generation to generation continues to shape the cultural self-understanding of the country to this day.

Since 1999, Archil Ushveridze has been leading the choir. The experienced musician is also the artistic director of the International Choral Festival in Tbilisi as well as the Tbilisi Philharmonic Choir. At regular intervals – about every two to three years – the young singers go on international tours. In 2023, concert tours took them to Halle and Budapest, where they performed together with German and Hungarian choirs.

On April 18, the choir will perform at KultWerk Immling in Bad Endorf and aims to inspire the audience with the special richness and expressiveness of Georgian choral music.
