Tosca's price of freedom – infamous betrayal and political abuse of power.
Rome around 1800. It is a pity that love does not always triumph over violence and intrigue. The opera singer Tosca's deep devotion to the rebellious painter Cavaradossi becomes her fatal downfall: When the tyrannical police chief Scarpia wants to possess her entirely, she becomes a victim of a brutal regime. Tosca fights bravely and wisely for dignity and freedom, but betrayal knows no mercy. In the end, everyone is dead – the lover, the tyrant, and Tosca herself – through a bold, yet deadly leap from the Castel Sant'Angelo. As the final act of autonomy, Tosca chooses death. Free, but dead. Giacomo Puccini's music makes hearts tremble and brings tears to flow.
