Immling goes Tiflis

For 40 singers from our choir, it's soon time to pack their bags! On March 16, they will travel to Tiflis to ceremoniously open the International Choral Festival – this year in cooperation with the Immling Festival.
Since autumn, rehearsals have been taking place intensively, weekend after weekend. The preparation is elaborate, many are taking vacation specifically for this special project. But the anticipation outweighs everything.
Lena Schmidt from Rosenheim says: "For me, it is a great honor to be part of this. I look forward to the country and the culture – and especially to the intercultural exchange, standing on stage together with Georgian singers." The program features one of the largest choral works in the world: the Verdi Requiem. Gripping like an opera drama, full of passion, pain, and hope.
At the conductor's podium is Cornelia von Kerssenbrock, an internationally sought-after conductor and musical director of the Immling Festival: "Two choirs from Georgia will also join us. In total, around 130 singers will be on stage – that is immense. This work creates goosebump moments and is incredibly emotional."
Elisabeth Berghammer is also looking forward to the event: "I am excited about the special atmosphere of standing on stage in such a large choir, especially when the orchestra joins in. One is a small link in a large whole – but one is part of it." A choral journey of this magnitude has never happened before.
And for those who are now curious: On August 2, the Verdi Requiem will also be performed at the Immling Festival. A musical event that one should not miss.
